So one Saturday I’m woken by the ringing of my phone. To be honest, it was Saturday evening and I had fallen asleep on my sofa, but sleep is sleep! Anyway, once I stumble my way to my mobile and remember how to activate the speaker of my phone I’m finally able to answer up. “Hello?” After a few moments of hazy pleasantries the caller finally introduces himself as simply Eric. “Eric?” Obviously I’m missing some vital detail as to who this person is, but he clearly knows me and I stutter to find the disconnect. “Eric. …Eric?” I think to myself. “How do I know an Eric?” Then in a revelation, it dawns on my waking mind. Erik!!! With a “K!”
Some background information is in order. Erik is an old friend of mine that I’ve not seen since 2003 give or take. Sure, we’ve been in casual contact since via Facebook, but still, he’s not a day-to-day or even month-to-month contact of mine. Regardless, he’s on the phone now and so we play catch up. It was really great to hear from him and only moments into our conversation he confides that he is getting married soon and wanted to know if I was available to shoot his engagement and wedding. “I’d love to!” I screamed. “But when exactly is it?” His sheepish reply was, “Two weeks?” Ha! Two weeks!? Well, after checking my calendar it turned out that I was in fact available! “Where will the ceremony be?” I continued. “Just outside of Plainwell ….in Michigan.”
So, long story short, I had scheduled a wedding for an long lost friend of mine some 15-hours away. Awesome!!!
I’ll confess that the weekend was a bit rushed, and due to scheduling and travelling times we didn’t get to do a proper engagement set until the day after the wedding, but all in all everything fell very nicely into place. So to try to re-sort the timeline (cheating, I know!), I’ll be posting their engagement set here first followed by highlights from the actual wedding day once I’ve been able to go through them all. For now though, here a few of my favorites from our Sunday morning adventures around downtown Plainwell, Michigan….
